Build It. Own It. We Exit.
AI Practice Implementation
Our flagship engagement: we build an internal AI practice inside your organisation and exit within 18 months. Real-Time Discovery, executive buy-in, pilot programmes, governance, team upskilling, and a clean handover. You keep the capability. We leave.
Typical outcomes
Most organisations that engage a consultancy to help with AI end up dependent on that consultancy. The work never quite transfers. The knowledge lives in the relationship, not the organisation. We built this engagement specifically to break that pattern. We come in, we build something real, and we leave. The practice continues without us.
Real-Time Discovery
Every AI Practice Implementation begins with our Real-Time Discovery process. Twenty-one structured artefacts developed over two to four weeks: current-state mapping, AI opportunity analysis, stakeholder readiness assessment, risk landscape, and a prioritised roadmap. This is not a research project that produces a report. It produces a plan that the rest of the engagement delivers.
Executive Buy-In
AI practices fail without executive sponsorship. We treat getting buy-in as a deliverable, not a prerequisite. That means working with your leadership team to understand their concerns, build the business case in terms they care about, and establish visible sponsorship before the first pilot launches. We have built this process from repeated experience of what makes sponsorship real versus nominal.
Pilot Programmes
Pilots in a SoftHouse engagement are blueprints, not proofs of concept. We select the highest-value opportunity from Discovery, run a structured pilot with clear success criteria, and design the pilot so that the lessons transfer to every subsequent initiative. By the time the pilot is complete, your team knows how to run the next one themselves.
Governance and Safety
We build governance structures that are proportionate to your organisation: not so light that they offer no protection, not so heavy that they prevent useful work from happening. This covers data handling, model selection criteria, usage policies, review processes, and escalation paths. The governance framework is documented and owned by your team before we exit.
Team Upskilling
The people who will run the AI practice after we leave need to be capable before we go. Upskilling is woven through the engagement, not scheduled at the end. We combine formal training from our Training offering with hands-on collaboration throughout: your team works alongside our advisors on real problems, learning the methodology as they go.
Structured Handover
The exit is planned from the first week. Every deliverable we produce is documented for internal ownership. Every process we establish is transferred with clear runbooks. The final months of the engagement are explicitly structured as a transition: we step back, your team steps forward, and we remain available for questions after we close. The goal is that our exit is unremarkable, because nothing depends on us anymore.
This engagement typically runs twelve to eighteen months. Shorter is possible for organisations that are already partway through building their practice. We scope it at the end of Real-Time Discovery, when we have a clear picture of where you actually are.
